The Restoration of Rangers Graves Project and William Danskin

The Restoration of Rangers Graves Project and William Danskin, Rangers 1899-1922. COMPLETE!

Appointed in 1899 William Danskin was one of the first directors of Rangers Football Club.

That same board appointed William Wilton as Rangers first ever manager. William rests in the Auld Aisle Cemetery Kirkintilloch.

William married Margaret Slimon whose father was James Slimon of Camphill on Washington Road Kirkintilloch.

Mr Slimon owned a successful Woollen Mill in the town and the Slimon family home through time became the Kirkintilloch library.

During Mr Danskin’s tenure in office Rangers would win

10 Scottish League Titles

10 Glasgow Cups

8 Glasgow Merchant Charity Cups.

We recently found his final resting place which was restored last week and a memorial plaque was placed at the base.

We’d like to thank the Kirkintilloch RSC, the Southbank True Blues Supporters Club and the Kirkintilloch Rangers Social Club for their support of the restoration project.

A dedication event at the Auld Aisle Cemetery in Kirkintilloch to honour William Danskin will be announced soon.
