The Restoration of Rangers Graves Project Saturday 22nd August Craigton Cemetery.

We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who attended today.Your assistance is much appreciated.

Job done.

We’ll now arrange to have the stone of Rangers President Joseph Buchanan re-erected.

Update to follow.

Joseph Buchanan succeeded William Craig as chairman of Rangers Football Club Limited on the sad death of the latter in November, 1923.

The future chairman joined the Club in 1894, the year in which we won the Scottish Cup for the first time. A Glasgow baker, with a business, the Broomloan Bakery, in Broomloan Road, he was appointed to the Board in 1915. He had been a member of the Abercorn club for many years. He was also a keen golfer, being a member of the Port Bannatyne Golf Club.

Joseph Buchanan was said to have an excellent knowledge of the game of football and football players. He provided wise counsel. He was another Ranger to serve the City of Glasgow, having held the office of Baillie. He died on 9 November, 1932 in a Glasgow nursing home having resigned as chairman a few weeks previously.

His grave at Craigton Cemetery is a short distance from that of Mr. Struth.
